What will you be doing?
We are a small but growing charity at a pivotal moment in our evolution. We turn 20 this year and want to make a lasting impact for homeless young people. We are looking for an exceptional person to take on the role of Treasurer / Trustee. The successful candidate will have a background in finance, strategy, governance and risk management. About Gloucestershire Nightstop Our vision is to see the end of homelessness for young adults across Gloucestershire. We do this by championing young adults 16-25 who are homeless or at risk providing, holistic safe, stable options, early intervention, emergency, peer and resettlement support 24 hours a day to prevent recurring or longer-term homelessness and to those not qualifying for Local Authority support. We have representation of those who have lived experience across the organisation ensuring along with our research project that young people get what they need going forward over the next 3 years and beyond. As well as embedding our core services, we are developing new services and embarking on a research and partnership programme using collaboration to face the challenges to housing justice for young people. The pandemic followed by the cost of living crisis have left young people who were already housing disadvantaged in even more challenging situations. Ever increasing rents, less housing support than adults and increasing thresholds for support from the local. On a regular year on year basis nearly 1000 authorities. young people 16-25 are recorded as seeking help from the 6 districts across Gloucestershire. This is an under-representation both because not all districts respond to the request for information and not all young people approach the councils when homeless. We have a board made up of fairly new Trustees the longest serving is 2 years and the most recent June 2023. We have a Trustees who has experience of hosting homeless young people, and a former services user among the members . You will offer vital knowledge and advice to thus dynamic group of people. Our Executive Director has been in post 3 years and is an experienced Charity Executive Director, you will need to work openly and supportively with this post.
