What will you be doing?
Spreading the word is key to your local community understanding what your local Read Easy group does and how people can get the reading support they need or volunteer to help. Responsibilities
Liaise with the Management Team to decide on the group’s publicity needs. Create content for your group’s page on the Read Easy website. Set up and/or maintain the group’s Facebook page. Set up and/or maintain Twitter and/or other social media platforms to raise your group’s profile with other local organisations and potential volunteers, if this is agreed. Become familiar with and use the resources available to you on the Read Easy website. Organise the printing and placement of posters, leaflets, and other publicity materials. Identify any specific opportunities for publicity locally or via national events. Ensure that you have written permission from all parties to use any such material for the purposes you intend. Provide stories and photographs for the Read Easy UK website and newsletter about your group’s activities and achievements. Follow ‘Read Easy Brand Guidelines’ to preserve a clearly recognisable and consistent Read Easy identity.
Resources, guidance and support You will be provided with the Management Team Handbook, policies, training/induction and guidance specifically needed for this role, including access to support from a Read Easy UK Regional Adviser, via your Team Leader. You will also be invited to Read Easy UK’s regional forums and annual conference which give volunteers an opportunity for networking with those from other groups.
What are we looking for?
Personal qualities and experience
Knowledge and previous experience of publicity/marketing are essential. A willingness to explore the range of publicity options and work with the Management Team to identify how best to publicise your group and its needs. Knowledge and ability to use social media effectively is useful for the role. The confidence to promote the work of Read Easy and a strong commitment to improving the lives of people who struggle with reading. Good communication and people skills, with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality. A non-judgemental attitude and respect for others. Time, energy and enthusiasm. The ability to use initiative and to work well as part of a team. A willingness to abide by Read Easy policies and procedures.

Because of our dedicated volunteers, Read Easy groups deliver high-quality coaching services to local adults who want to improve their reading skills.
