What will you be doing?
We're aiming to broaden the skillset and diversity of our trustee board. Citizens Advice Watford welcomes people of all ages, backgrounds and experience who are passionate about the work we do, and will contribute proactively to the work of the board. You don't need to have previous trustee experience as we'll provide the training and support you need to help you thrive in this role. What matters is your commitment to the aims and goals of the charity, and willingness to actively participate in the work of the board.
We recognise that a diverse board is more effective because it reflects different perspectives and promotes a more balanced approach to decision making. We welcome applications from people in all sectors of the community including young people, people of colour, people with disabilities, women and LGBTQIA+ people, who are currently underrepresented on our board. We particularly welcome applications from people with lived experience of the issues faced by our clients.
What are we looking for?
We're looking for people with backgrounds and experience in the following fields:
Legal, to ensure good governance Accounting and finance, to ensure our financial viability
As a trustee you will work as part of a team responsible for the management, governance and strategic direction of Citizens Advice Watford. You will play an active part in decision making and shaping the future direction of the service.
What difference will you make?
Located in the heart of the local community, our dedicated team of staff and volunteers gives advice and support with a wide range of issues including benefits, debt, housing, immigration and employment. In the current cost of living crisis, our service offers a vital lifeline to those in our community disadvantaged by poverty, ill health or other circumstances. We also campaign for change in policies and practices that have an unfair impact on people's lives. As a trustee you will have the opportunity to use your skills and experience to make a real difference to people in your community. Your contribution will help to steer our charity through the challenges we face so that we can continue with our vital work. This is a rewarding role in which you will play an active part in an organisation that can transform people's lives.
