What will you be doing?

Strategic Communications:

Develop and implement comprehensive PR strategies to promote our initiatives, events, and achievements to the public, stakeholders, and media outlets. Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure consistent messaging and alignment with the organization's brand and key objectives. Create compelling storytelling narratives that highlight the impact and engage target audiences.

Media Relations:

Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with media representatives, journalists, influencers, and bloggers. Proactively pitch stories and secure media coverage in print, broadcast, and online media outlets to increase visibility and raise awareness. Monitor media coverage, prepare press releases, and respond to media inquiries promptly and effectively.

Brand Management:

Ensure the organization's brand is effectively communicated and consistently represented across all PR activities. Develop and maintain key messaging guidelines and brand identity standards. Collaborate with the design team to create visually appealing and impactful PR materials.

Stakeholder Engagement:

Identify, build, and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including partners, influencers, community organizations, and policymakers. Develop strategic partnerships and collaborations to enhance the organization's reach and impact. Coordinate engagement activities and events with stakeholders to foster positive relationships and support. Measurement and Evaluation: Track and analyze PR activities, media coverage, and audience engagement metrics. Prepare reports to assess the effectiveness of PR strategies and make data-driven recommendations for improvement.

What are we looking for?

Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a related field. A relevant master's degree is a plus. Proven experience as a Public Relations Specialist or similar role, with a track record of successful PR campaigns and media relations. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft engaging and impactful messaging. Excellent relationship-building and networking skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders. Solid understanding of media landscape and familiarity with media monitoring and management tools. Crisis communication expertise, with the ability to handle sensitive and challenging situations calmly and effectively. Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Creative thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to generate innovative PR ideas and strategies. Proficiency in social media platforms and digital PR tactics. Passion for diversity, equity, and inclusion, and a commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of young black girls.
