What will you be doing?

Are you aware that nearly 160,000 people across Cambridgeshire and Norfolk are caring for a family member or someone in their community unpaid?  Can you imagine caring for someone 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week without a break or someone to lighten the load? Caring Together are an independent charity that reaches and provides support to around 50,000 carers annually and we want you to help us reach more.   Caring Together support unpaid carers of all ages ensuring they get what they need.  Whether this be signposting them to appropriate medical, financial or wellbeing support, providing care to ensure they get a much needed break or by introducing you to others in similar situations for that peer to peer support. Our board of trustees meets five to six times a year and is supported by a finance and audit committee and a quality and service delivery committee who meet quarterly.  We also establish steering groups to support our senior leadership team in key areas of the business. We currently have these for fundraising and digital transformation which reflects our ambition in both these areas. We are specifically looking to recruit trustees who are willing to be members of our quality and service delivery committee which has a key governance role across the operational activity of the organisation.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for new Trustees who have experience of working in or being involved with the health and social care sector. We are particularly interested in hearing from individuals who may have worked in these sectors or who have experience and knowledge from a role that has had an operational focus within service commissioning, service delivery, strategic development or similar .  Or you may have lived experience relevant to our cause which we view as equally valuable.   Put simply, we are looking for new trustees who have a background of making things work for people, who want to use these skills to help us give these unpaid, often hidden carers the support and voice they deserve.  Committed trustees are vital to the work of our organisation and we look forward to welcoming new trustees onto the board as we continue to grow and develop our services.   As a trustee you will need:

To be passionate about ensuring no unpaid carer is in crisis, isolated or struggling alone

To be committed to developing your knowledge and understanding of how Caring Together is run.

To be committed to supporting and promoting Caring Together’s vision and values.

To demonstrate strong leadership skills.

To be an active member of the board, committing the time and insight required

If this is a cause you are keen to support and you are able to commit to preparing for and attending up to six board meetings and 4 committee meetings each year, we would love to hear from you.

What difference will you make?

As a trustee you will:

Change the world for unpaid carers  Help us identify, engage and give a voice to unpaid carers Drive the strategic direction of Caring Together, ensuring we deliver essential support to a growing population .   Make sure the needs of carers are always at the centre of decisions taken by Caring Together.
