What will you be doing?

As a Trustee for The Living Tree you will use any specific skills, knowledge or experience you have to help the board of trustees reach sound decisions. This may involve scrutinising board papers, leading discussions, focusing on key issues, providing advice and guidance on new initiatives, or other issues in which the trustee has special expertise.

Applicants should be organised and able to work at Trustee Board level.

What are we looking for?

To become a Trustee for The Living Tree you should have commitment to the aims and objectives of the Charity and be able to devote the necessary time and effort to the Board.  You will use your skills in event management to showcase the work of the charity both at Friday Drop-in (at the Friends Meeting House, Bridport), and in other venues around Dorset, Somerset and East Devon.  You will use your skills, knowledge and experience to help develop short, medium and long-term strategies, working with the Chair and other board trustees, advising on governance matters and developing a clear strategy to move the charity forward over time. A key part of The Living Tree's model is the use of volunteers.  Trustees must be able to work with volunteers and help to create a safe and enjoyable environment for them to work in.  Currently, we are looking to attract more volunteers and this could be something the Trustee will be involved in. As a Trustees you will have an understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship, have an understanding of, and commitment to Nolan's seven principles of public life: selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership, be organised and work effectively as a team.
