Volunteer Treasurer

What will you be doing?

We're a lovely team composed mostly of people with lived experience or carer experience of ME, fibromyalgia and Long COVID.  We're looking for someone to:

Report our finances to the board using management accounts (essential) Join us remotely for trustee meeting (monthly, remote) Provide guidance and support to the Charity Manager and administrator Help us set up systems for good practice and recording

Experience of Xero or a cheap/free accounting package would be desirable.

What are we looking for?

Experience of bookkeeping (to support our admin), preparing annual accounts, charity SORP/SOFA, bookkeeping packages, and ability to explain financial matters clearly. Also, ability to join virtual meetings, empathy with our cause, patience working with people experiencing brain fog/fatigue, and reliability.

What difference will you make?

Good financial management will help us be more efficient so we can spend more time delivering services to our ill and disabled membership. We are passionate about challenging the stigma and barriers sufferers face in health services and from the government and provide support in the form of a benefits' service, all kinds on virutal wellbeing activities, and any other services our members request that we can find funds to progress. You will help us win our funding bids and manage our members' funds with confidence. And we'll be very grateful. Someone with lived experience of disability or an understanding of the impact of chronic conditions would be particularly successful in this role but we're happy to help you learn about our cause and welcome allies too.
