What will you be doing?

We are a UK-based Christian charity that collects unwanted usable tools, refurbishes them, sorts them into trade tool kits and sends them to the developing world for livelihood creation. In doing so, we also support UK communities through volunteering opportunities and contribute significantly to environmental sustainability by reducing waste and carbon emissions in the UK. We have found it very difficult to find trusts and foundations that are willing to fund our work. Many UK-based funders are only willing to support work that is exclusively UK-focused. We do have a significant UK impact (over 400 tonnes of tools collected, recycled, and reused, saving around 1,134 tonnes of CO2 emission, and a team of over 500 volunteers, many of whom are with us for their mental health), but we have struggled to secure funding within these focus areas. We have started reframing our brand message to centre around a "local to global" focus, as our communications have been almost exclusively focused on the impact in Africa until now. We hope that by showing our UK impact as part of our core message, we will appeal more to UK-based funders. As we embark on this journey to enhance our funding streams, we are actively seeking an experienced and insightful volunteer who can evaluate our organisation and identify the most suitable funding areas to focus on. Over the past few years, we have been successful in securing several grants, yet we still need to explore further opportunities and require expert guidance to transform our current grant application processes. By joining our team, you will play a pivotal role in helping us secure the necessary resources to continue making a difference in the lives of countless individuals and communities. Your expertise will not only strengthen our funding efforts but also ensure a sustainable future for our organisation and the communities we serve. Key Responsibilities:

Research and identify potential grant opportunities that align with TWAM's mission and objectives Support the development and submission of high-quality grant applications, including writing persuasive proposals and compiling necessary documents Collaborate with TWAM staff and volunteers to gather relevant information for grant applications and reports Provide guidance to TWAM staff on the grant application process

What are we looking for?

Previous experience in grant writing, fundraising or a similar role, preferably within the charity sector Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write compelling grant proposals Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to identify suitable funding opportunities Knowledge of the UK grant funding landscape and understanding of funder requirements Good organisational skills, with the ability to manage deadlines and priorities A genuine interest in and commitment to the mission and values of Tools with a Mission

What difference will you make?

As a Grants and Trusts Volunteer at Tools with a Mission, your invaluable contributions will have a far-reaching impact on our organisation and the communities we serve. Your expertise in identifying funding opportunities, securing resources, and refining our grant application processes will enable TWAM to expand its reach, empower more individuals, and support sustainable development in vulnerable communities. By joining our team, you will play a pivotal role in furthering our mission, leaving a lasting, positive imprint on countless lives and driving meaningful change across the globe.
