What will you be doing?

Seeking Trustee with experience in Fundraising to contribute their expertise to the Sunday Assembly London Board of Trustees. Trustees at Sunday Assembly London determine strategy and oversee operations for a vibrant volunteer-run community that organises twice-monthly events at Conway Hall (Central London) featuring inspiring guest speakers and poets with a live band leading karaoke-style singalongs.   The board works with a volunteer coordination crew who manage these twice-monthly assemblies as well as ongoing activities and annual special events with the charitable mission to help people Live Better, Help Often, and Wonder More. Sunday Assembly is seeking volunteer Trustee Board members with drive and enthusiasm to assist in the delivery of its charitable aims. You will attend and contribute to our monthly Board meetings, on the second Monday of each month.    What will you be doing?

You will attend and contribute to our monthly Board meetings, on the second Monday of each month.  You will identify fundraising opportunities, assess their potential and make recommendations.  You will be able to apply your individual strengths on the Board as well as learn new skills; defining a specialist role, projects and activities where you will take the lead and focus your time.

  Main Responsibilities    Our board members are responsible for providing oversight to the operations of the charity in accordance with their obligations as trustees. They are required to review Board papers and play a key role in decision making in relation to:

Ensuring the effective running of the charity, ensuring it fulfils its purpose Maintaining oversight and control over financial matters Monitoring the delivery of community events and activities  Ensuring the effective management of our volunteering community  Strategic decision-making affecting the future development of the charity

This includes attending meetings and assisting with the effective administration of charity business and, where possible, attending our events. See the attached document for a full role description.

What are we looking for?

Our ideal candidate will have..

At least 3 years professional experience in fundraising, donor management, grantwriting, revenue generation, financial strategy, or related area Ability to lead the development of an income strategy to ensure long-term financial stability Ability to take the lead and be a key point of contact in your specialist field  Desire to engage with issues affecting the community.

We're also looking for..

Experience of being a charitable trustee/in a position of responsibility. Knowledge of Charity law / Governance / Trustee obligations.
