What will you be doing?
This volunteer role will involve taking the lead for developing a fundraising strategy and delivering on its goals for the charity's annual Family Fun Day event taking place in Enfield in June 2024 as part of a national Carers Week programme of actions. You will engaging with the local community as part of Enfield Carers Centre's efforts to raise awareness of family and unpaid carers' needs and to obtain contributions to aid the development of its services. You will be seeking to obtain contributions from local businesses and other community organisations which could be in the form of financial donations, donations in kind and sponsorship packages. A realistic target for contributions (say between £5 - 10k) would be set by yourself in collaboration with the CEO as a result of the fundraising strategy you help to devise. You would, therefore, be working directly with the CEO and the senior management team to plan the Fun Day event itself; research potential sponsors; set fundraising target goals; manage the delivery and collection of donations; develop marketing materials; and advise on any additional resources that might be required.
What are we looking for?
Ideally we would like someone with experience of creating, planning and delivering on the goals set for sponsorship. If you have experience of fundraising for similar charitable events then this would be a distinct advantage but is not essential. Otherwise we are looking for someone with a mix of related or transferable skills including fundraising, event sponsorship, sponsorship negotiation, lead generation and contracting who could work with us for a period of 3 to 6 months or other negotiable period. The event is currently organised by our small in-house team alongside undertaking their busy day jobs. We are, therefore, looking for an experienced and well-networked sponsorship professional who would, ideally be living locally or knows the community and has experience of fundraising for events such as our Family Fun Day. You should also have strong credibility and presentation skills and be comfortable working on your own as well as part of a team.
What difference will you make?
You will have the opportunity through your experience and skills to make a direct and significant impact by making a major contribution to the raising of much needed resources to enable our charity to maintain and further develop its wide range of information, advice and support services for unpaid carers; a group of people which undertakes hugely important (often under appreciated) roles, and contains some of society's most vulnerable individuals.
