What will you be doing?
Founded in West Suffolk in 2016, Alumah is growing year by year We provide support to victims and survivors of domestic abuse and their families, regardless of gender, ethnicity, race, sexual orientation, faith or no faith. Alumah offers a wide range of support from 1:1, small group, counselling, online support, specific support for young people aged 12 - 24 years and children aged 7 - 11 years. We want to strengthen and grow our small, friendly team of trustees at an exciting time for Alumah. We are looking for Trustees who share our passion to empower people impacted by domestic abuse to rebuild their lives. We are inclusive and welcome people from all backgrounds. We are particularly proud of our specialist programme for the LGBTQ+ community and children aged 7 - 11 years. Trustees must be willing to use their skills and experience to get involved in the practical running of the charity and help us to grow and improve the way we work. Our three main current challenges are:
to support more people referred to us quickly to work with organisations to increase our funding to support the charity so that it can grow
It is important to us that our Trustees have a faith which is in line with our Christian beliefs and values, and share our vision to offer a high quality service to everyone regardless of faith or religious background. We are proud of the diversity of our workforce and we would like to improve the diversity of our team of Trustees. Trustees meet quarterly with one or two smaller meetings in between to address and work on priorities. Each trustee holds specific responsibilities (agreed as we get to know each other). The time commitment is about 2 working days a month. Like our clients, we all have strengths and weaknesses and we expect to support each other as we work together to grow and develop. We welcome people who are passionate about supporting people to recover from the impact of Domestic Abuse. Skills in the following areas are particularly welcome:
Strategic financial management ( not bookkeeping) Marketing and fundraising Outcome monitoring Volunteer recruitment and management
