What will you be doing?

OC is at a key stage of its organisational development. We are now well established as an Alternative Education Provider with a network of referral partners and an exciting delivery model which is impactful and innovative. The last five years have seen OC transform from a small start up to a substantial organisation. After this period of rapid growth, largely in direct to response to very real need for services for vulnerable young people, we are currently in the process of strengthening the organisational infrastructure and building a strategy for the next 3-5 year phase of development. In order to deliver against the exciting vision for OC and the positive change we can deliver for young people in our area of Hampshire, we need to broaden our trustee board with the skill sets, and commitment needed to support our goals.

What are we looking for?

We are seeking a range of experience to build our trustee board. We have identified the following areas (although we would be happy to hear from candidates who feel their experience in other areas may be able to support the organisation):

HR Health & Safety Safeguarding Social care / education Communication and Marketing Business development

The qualities we would value in an OC trustee include:

integrity, strategic vision and good, independent judgement an understanding of the commitment entailed in terms of the necessary time and effort required in performing their duties as trustee good communication skills tact and diplomacy willingness to speak one’s mind and listen to the views of others an ability to work effectively as a member of a team

It would be desirable if candidates also had:

experience of trustee work, or team working prior experience within organisation/s working with vulnerable young people a wider involvement with the voluntary sector

What difference will you make?

As part of our board you will support and shape our work and strategic direction, as well as play a key role in us achieving our purpose, to help young people Feel Safe, Belong and Achieve. The next one to three years in OC's journey are going to be pivotal; your contribution will help ensure OC reaches its potential, to solidify and expand our reach, and affect positive and tangible change in the lives of vulnerable young people for years to come.
