What will you be doing?

We are looking for someone to join our team of volunteers in delivering weekly english classes to those who are engaged with our service. The Audacious School of Language meets weekly to deliver conversational english sessions to around 40 students per class from a variety of backgrounds and nationalities. Most of our beneficiaries are experiencing a degree of isolation, some are seeking asylum. Therefore, our classes are designed to improve language skills, increase confidence and improved social integration. 

Key responsibilities:

To teach engaging, communicative lessons, online or face-to-face, to Audacious School of Language students. 

To teach weekly classes in line with the Audacious School of Language curriculum for either Elementary (CEFR A2), Intermediate (CEFR B1+) or Advanced (CEFR C1) level classes. 

To adapt lessons to suit the needs of the learners, be that in level, linguistic priorities, age or motivation for learning.

To interact supportively and appropriately with all students, ensuring all students are welcomed and included in the School of Language community

To complete associated administrative duties, including termly and weekly registration, records of work and student feedback.

To liaise with staff and volunteers across the relevant departments within the Audacious Foundation

  General Position Requirements:

TEFL-i status: first degree and TEFL certification (CELTA/ CertTESOL or equivalent)

3 years’ experience teaching EFL post-CELTA (UK or abroad). 

Enthusiastic and hard working

Excellent communication skills

Works well within a team

Commitment to professional development and responding to student feedback

Excellent organisational skills & confident with IT.

Can adapt to the needs of the students and teach to large groups with confidence. 

Can offer a degree of support to students with questions about work, study, further exams available and life in the UK.

There are a number of requirements that we expect from a volunteer with regards to their teaching experience. However, it is equally important that volunteers are able to represent our organisation, its culture and values.The Audacious Foundation exists to help address issues faced by the region including poverty, homelessness and family challenges, our vision is "Changing Lives and Transforming Communities". Therefore we are looking for someone who is able to offer teaching support to some of the most vulnerable within our community as part of a growing team.
