Role Summary

  • Prepare monthly management reporting packs for various companies.
  • Create statutory financial statements and coordinate with auditors.
  • Update and enhance finance team procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with controls and manage VAT reporting.
  • Maintain customer relationships, tracking service delivery and resolving performance issues.
  • Manage onboarding and oversight of new assets.
  • Analyze financial variances and provide clear commentary.
  • Apply accounting expertise to management accounts and financial statements.
  • Build professional relationships internally and externally, understanding the business deeply.

Role Requirements

  • Qualified accountant (CPA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
  • Proficient in UK GAAP, IFRS, and Excel.
  • Experience in management accounting and reporting in a high growth environment.
  • Knowledge of SPV structures within Renewable Energy or similar industries is desirable.
  • Experience in finance operations or Record to Report (R2R) is advantageous.

Role Description

We are building an exciting new Low Carbon Finance Services (LCFS) team in London. This team will be at the centre of delivering innovative and effective processes as we grow into large-scale renewable energy company.

The Financial Accountant role is part of the dynamic LCFS team delivering specialist Finance services in a timely and accurate manner. The team of qualified accountants work to ensure processes are performed in accordance with performance and quality standards. This position is focused on assisting with closing and reporting and adherence to statutory requirements, ensuring and robust and compliant controls environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation of monthly management reporting packs for a portfolio of companies
  • Preparation of statutory financial statements and liaising with auditors
  • Assist with updating, improving and implementing procedures for the finance team
  • Liaising with external partners, including auditors and providers of debt finance
  • Support with controls compliance and other internal controls requirements.
  • VAT reporting
  • Maintain close relationships with customers (within Low Carbon and Third Party Asset Management) to ensure responsiveness to their needs, track service delivery and performance, and support escalation and resolution of any performance issues
  • Assist with the onboarding and management of new assets
  • Preparing commentary on variances (budget vs. actual vs forecast)
  • Apply technical accounting and regulatory knowledge to the preparation of management accounts and annual financial statements
  • Develop sound professional working relationships with colleagues across LCFS, the wider Low Carbon team and external customers, building their confidence and acquiring an understanding of the business

Person Specification

  • A confident communicator who can present complex financial information clearly and concisely
  • Good working knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS reporting
  • A positive attitude and collaborative working style, able to give and receive constructive coaching
  • A strong multi-tasker, adept at managing accounts for a large number of companies and delivering to deadlines 
  • Excellent time management skills, with a committed focus on accuracy and details
  • A growth mindset, keen to learn and take on new challenges

Skills & Experience

  • Qualified accountant (CPA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Excellent Excel skills
  • Experience of management accounting and reporting within a demanding, high growth business
  • Experience working with an SPV structure within Renewable Energy, Infrastructure, or similar industry(desirable)
  • Experience working within finance operations or Record to Report (R2R), and / or experience of delivering a continuous improvement agenda
