Volunteer Trustee with IT/digital strategy experience to join board of charity supporting disabled people

What will you be doing?

Penderels Trust is a growing charity, primarily supporting disabled people to live independently. We also provide a financial money management service including appointeeships. We are looking to increase our trustee board to support the senior management team to deliver high quality services in the challenging social care sector. We have made recent investment in improved technological solutions for our payroll service and will be reviewing all our digital systems over the next few years.  The social care sector faces extreme pressure with funding and staff recruitment which poses an ongoing challenge as we support people to employ their own carer as part of our role.  We are seeking a trustee who has an interest in making lives better for people who need care and support. This interest may come from lived experience, professionally or as a carer although it is not essential, it is your commitment and values that are the most important to us. In particular, we are currently seeking someone with a background in IT projects/digital strategy. The majority of people we work with receive a direct payment (a sum of money from their local authority) to purchase their care and support package. A direct payment puts the individual in control of how they receive their care but can be tricky to organise. We work with the individual to help them manage the process and to negotiate the sometimes complex systems that can act as a barrier to choosing a direct payment, even if it is the best solution for them. With nearly 15,000 people to support and a staff team of 200 across several offices, strong leadership and clear governance is vital.  #LI-Remote

a commitment to help Penderels Trust achieve its core aims to support people with disabilities to live independently skills and experience in the IT and/or digital strategy sector  great communication skills be able to work as part of a team  be able to commit time to attend the meetings, read papers in advance and be ready to engage in discussion an understanding of the legal duties and responsibilities of being a trustee

As a trustee, you will be able to use your valuable skills and experience to have a direct influence over the work of the trust, shaping our strategy and providing support to the senior management team.   We are currently investing in new technology and your skills will enable us to do this effectively, having a significant impact on the people we support, making having a direct payment easier and supporting out staff teams to be more efficient.
