What will you be doing?

Exciting time of growth as our ambitious charity continues to develop its service offer to meet the growing demand to support those affected by sexual assault and abuse. We have an ambitious 3 year strategy with 5 key priorities: 1: Growth consolidation With increasing numbers of survivors who need our support, we will implement and monitor a new staffing structure to ensure survivors are able to access the service they need. 2: Sustainability Survivors and their supporters need and deserve access to stable, specialist services. So, we will continue to seek long-term, dedicated funding to ensure the continuity of trained staff and volunteers to deliver specialist services.  3: Quality service delivery Informed by the national service standards we will focus on creating a dynamic and cohesive environment that fosters commitment and supports continuous improvement in developing our specialist services. 4: Partnership working  To sustain and develop good working relationships with specialist support services across our region. To ensure that survivors voices are being heard and shared with those who have power or authority to implement improved responses to and treatment of survivors.  5: Equality, Diversity and Inclusion To review current services and systems for their effectiveness in creating pathways to accessing specialist sexual violence and domestic abuse support for marginalised individuals.  We need trustees with relevant skills to help drive these strategic priorities forward.  Our current board is small and very hands-on, with a wide range of skills and experience relevant to fundraising, bid-writing, data analysis, counselling, business and commercial skills, volunteer management, and partnership development and collaboration. We are keen to add to our collective expertise with a new trustee. Following a recent audit, and to drive forward our strategic priorities, we are keen to meet with potential trustees with expertise in communications/marketing/PR strategy, health and safety, digital/ICT strategy, and legal (particularly employment, charity and company law). While you don’t need to have any specific trustee experience, we are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, passionate about our charitable objectives, driven, with a willingness to learn, grow and work with the charity.

What are we looking for?

We are keen to add to the collective expertise of our board with a new trustee. While you don’t need to have any specific trustee experience, following a recent audit, and to drive forward our strategic priorities, we are keen to meet with potential trustees with expertise in communications/marketing/PR strategy, health and safety, digital/ICT strategy, and legal (particularly employment, charity and company law). We are looking for women who are driven, enthusiastic, and passionate about making a difference to those who have been affected by sexual assault and abuse. While previous trustee experience is not required, we are looking for a trustee who is willing to learn with us and be accountable to a hands-on team of trustees, staff and volunteers.

What difference will you make?

By working with the current board to advise and oversee our business plan, the organisation can ensure its services are sustainable, and that the growing demand for support from those who have experienced sexual abuse is met. Police statistics are showing an increase of sexual offences recorded, and many survivors of abuse endure psychological trauma for years before seeking support. Each trustee plays a key role, working alongside the CEO, to ensure the organisation can continue to offer support to survivors, and can grow in a sustainable way so no one is left without help. Joining our organisation at this time provides a significant opportunity to affect real change in the development of services, which will have a positive effect on those accessing support for the profound and often devastating negative impacts of sexual violence. If you want to be involved in change, growth, and improvement directly, this is a brilliant opportunity. We're not looking for just another board member but another member of the team to join our mission to enable survivors to live fulfilling lives.
