Volunteer Treasurer

What will you be doing?

The role would include maintaining and preparing financial accounts for our charitable organization registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales. Key responsibilities would include compliance with regulatory standards, specifically year-end reporting but also with regard to Companies House filing. There will also be periodic meetings with the Principal and Trustees. The Francis Bacon Society was established in 1886 and is one of the oldest literary societies in the UK. We are a relatively small charity with 5 Trustees/Members of the Council and a Principal. The work involved would not be overly time consuming or arduous but would be hugely beneficial to the smooth running and growth of our literary society. A love of history and literature would be welcome but not essential.

This role is essential for maintaining the financial health of our organization and adhering to necessary legal requirements.  This is a vital role, helping ensure we can continue our support and research and educational initiatives. As a trustee, you will have a real opportunity to offer your unique skill set to help the strategic progression of the charity. The role of Treasurer is so important to us - not only do we need someone to keep us on track financially and keep us viable, but even more significantly, we are looking for someone to help us formulate our vision for the future.
