Role Summary

The Discovery Research team supports a broad programme of transformative research that leads to significant shifts in our understanding of life, health and wellbeing. We are pursuing this programme through both open and directed funding routes to enable individuals and teams to pursue bold and creative research within our broad remit. Supporting a strong and diverse network of global researchers is essential to achieving impact.

In Discovery Research we aim to grow and diversify the research and researchers we fund by supporting a range of projects that better represent the international research community. We are now seeking a Senior Manager – Low to Middle Income Countries (LMICs), Discovery Research. Reporting into and working closely with Head of Discovery Researchers, this new role will be critical in leading development and evolution of Discovery Research’s LMIC led research portfolio.

Working across the Discovery Research team, the role holder will provide leadership, direction and oversight for the DR LMIC – led research portfolio, including current projects, partnerships, initiatives as well as exploring and developing opportunities for future growth. The post holder will need to work across a breadth of research disciplines, building and maintaining relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.

To be successful in this role you will have significant experience in higher education and / or the broader research landscape, both in the UK and internationally, specifically in LMICs. Experience of working in a research leadership role. Experience of working in an LMIC or with LMIC-based researchers. Strong understanding of the LMIC Research ecosystems, with good knowledge of the current state of, and trends in, the regulation and conduct of science and health research and practice internationally.
