The Discovery Research team supports a broad programme of transformative research that leads to significant shifts in our understanding of life, health, and wellbeing. We are pursuing this programme through both open and directed funding routes to enable individuals and teams to pursue bold and creative research within our broad remit.

We are now seeking a Senior Manager – Clinical, Discovery Research. Reporting into and working closely with Head of Discovery Researchers, this new role will be critical in leading development and evolution of Discovery Research’s clinical research portfolio. Working across the Discovery Research team, the post holder will provide leadership, direction, and oversight for DR clinical research portfolio, including projects, partnerships, initiatives as well as exploring and developing opportunities for future growth.

In this role you will: Contribute to the leadership, development and delivery of Discovery Research (DR) strategy, ensuring strategic objectives are met. Provide leadership, direction and have oversight of DR’s clinical research portfolio and its evolution. Through matrix working, build, lead and motivate a team to lead on scoping areas of interest, and develop, manage and evaluate new opportunities for support in the DR clinical research portfolio.

To be successful in this role you will have: Significant experience in higher education and or the broader research landscape, both in the UK and internationally, specifically in clinical academic research. Experience of working in a research leadership role. Experience of working in clinical academic research or with clinical based researchers. Strong understanding the clinical research ecosystems, with good knowledge of the current state of, and trends in, the regulation and conduct of science and health research and practice (nationally and internationally).

Our Hybrid Way of Working: We understand that our colleagues have commitments and personal interests outside of work and we strive to build a flexible working environment, in which people can perform at their best. We are currently working 2 days per week (Tuesdays and Wednesdays) from our Euston Road offices (as part of our hybrid Ways of Working) with the remaining 3 days from home.
