Role Summary

  • Identify and secure rewilding opportunities in the Rhodopes mountains, particularly Zhenda and Murga.
  • Restore key species and build local support for rewilding initiatives.
  • Develop and implement anti-poaching strategies within the rewilding areas.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of rewilding actions.

Role Requirements

  • Proven experience in biodiversity conservation and wildlife management.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Rhodope mountains, local authorities, and stakeholders.
  • A university degree in forestry, ecology, or natural sciences.
  • Independent, creative, and proactive work approach.
  • Excellent social, presentation, time management, prioritization, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Responsibility and the ability to work independently.
  • Fluency in Bulgarian, good command of the English language.
  • Valid driving license.

The organisation - Rewilding Rhodopes Foundation (RRF) is an exciting organization that works towards the implementation of Rewilding Europe’s main strategy and objectives for the Rhodopes rewilding area.

The role - As a Rewilding Manager, you will be responsible for identifying, securing, and implementing rewilding opportunities in Rhodopes mountains, especially in the area of Zhenda and Murga grounds. You will work towards the restoration of key species in the Rewilding Rhodopes landscape and create local support and partnership for the same. You will also be responsible for the development and implementation of antipoaching activities in and outside the rewilding area. Monitoring and reporting of results on rewilding actions will also be a part of your role.

Job requirements - The ideal candidate should have experience in projects related to biodiversity conservation and wildlife management. A good knowledge of the Rhodope mountains area and local authorities and stakeholders is required. A university degree in the field of forestry, ecology, natural sciences is also required. The candidate should have a creative and very pro-active attitude and personality with an ability to work independently. Excellent social and presentation skills, time management and prioritization skills, analytical skills, organization skills, and responsibility are also required. Fluency in Bulgarian and good knowledge of English language is needed. A valid driving license is also required.
