What will you be doing?
We introduced Xero to the organisation about 3 years ago, and need to stream-line the transition of all accounting/financial systems into a defined two-tier process. We'd like help to organise files, so that there is greater clarity and transparency of financial systems. Including secure file storage to improve the governance between the Executive and the Board.This new role primarily is to assist the chief executive with financial administrative duties. You will help manage risk and financial governance. They will provide hands on support in over with helping manage the charity’s financial systems, payments, and reporting of financial information. FHALMA uses Excel and online platform Xero. What’s involved - Essential Skills Understanding of processing of income and outgoings via Xero Introduction to raising invoices on Xero Credit control, sales and purchase ledger management Able to generate budgets, journals and reports ( Xero ) Processing expenses, receipts and payments Monitoring of and closing off purchase orders Produce a Monthly Chart of Accounts Liaise with External Examiner for year end accounts preparation Supervise filing to Charities Commission Experience Have a knowledge of producing accounts & hands on administrative duties of book keeping Have a willingness to deal with paperwork and filing Are numerate and able to understand accounting, Charity reporting and budgets Are Office 365 literate, with Excel and Word skills. Willingness to use/learn Office 365 SharePoint to share and offer secure file access
What are we looking for?
We are looking for volunteers with SME accounting skills, who like to take an analytical approach to improving the financial systems, (or management) and happy provide practical solutions that fit a small charity.-One that needs to grow. They will enjoy tracking information, record /book keeping, are meticulously detailed, organised and will document their work and activities. We are are hopeful that they are good communicators via email and happy to take part in online meetings (when necessary). Most of all, we value volunteers who can predict and plan their capacity and are able to tell us if tasks or timelines need to adjust. We see the role as being a team leader and working with at least two other people (treasurer and associate volunteer) to form a sub-committee to strengthen financial governance. Experience in identifying grants and donation pots will be a bonus.
