What will you be doing?
Idia’s Community Kitchen welcomes applications from anyone with a passion for the cause and the enthusiasm to get involved. However, the charity is especially interested in hearing from people with experience in:
Human resourcing – volunteer recruitment and retention; volunteer engagement. Treasury and finance – accountancy or financial management experience. Fundraising – donor engagement and management experience. Safeguarding – experience of producing and implementing policies and procedures relating to safeguarding. Marketing – ability to develop and manage marketing strategy for the charity. Operations – expertise in keeping an organisation running effectively and efficiently.
Our prospective Trustees are expected to:
Understand and support the purpose of Idia’s Community Kitchen as a community-led organisation whose primary aim is to ensure that “nobody goes hungry”. Share our values of respect, acceptance and kindness, and treat everyone with dignity. Either have lived experience or understand the reasons for food insecurity and why Idia’s Community Kitchen is an important asset to our community. Able to work as a member of a team to shape, drive and monitor the charity’s strategy. Use skills or experience to help lead discussions, focusing on key issues, providing advice and guidance where necessary. Can demonstrate awareness and understanding of the legal responsibilities of being a Trustee, and best practice in charity governance.

What are we looking for?
Core responsibilities:
Determine, in collaboration with the other trustees and our volunteers, the strategic priorities of the organization. Participate fully in the work of the board, ensuring collective responsibility of the board. Manage and use the charity’s resources to optimise impact and the delivery of its objectives. Uphold the highest standards of integrity and probity in exercising your responsibilities. Provide day-to-day administration of the organization between meetings of the board. Build and foster productive partnerships between the charity’s various stakeholder groups to promote the effective operation of the charity’s activities. Represent the charity at community functions, meetings, and in the wider media.
