What will you be doing?
This role involves finding resources, particularly on the Internet (not exclusively) to support our group discussions on a very wide range of discussion topics. Initially, you will work from an existing template to identify published articles, podcasts and videos. A curator's eye for credible reliable sources is required to maintain the high standard of material we use and recommend. On 15th November 2023 the World Health Organisation has established a “Commission on Social Connection (2024–2026)” with aims to see the issue of loneliness recognised and resourced as a global public health priority. How we work Gather Here works in a completely different way from existing charities around the world. We start on the internet to identify and match people into groups and then facilitate these groups to meet up in real life to form enduring communities. There is considerable scope to for a creative approach including the liaison with library educators. You will work remotely with a director and communicate using zoom.
What are we looking for?
We would like the candidate to have experience in researching sources on the Internet, and to have a good knowledge of wide-ranging issues and a very curious mind. A knowledge of how to generate a bibliography would be an advantage. Someone with teaching/ lecturing or curriculum design experience would be an advantage.
What difference will you make?
Your input will help as quickly move our service into a new age, reaching around the world to reconnect people back into a more meaningful life. With the existing scale of the problem it is highly likely you will already know people that need help.
