What will you be doing?

To assist the Board to see the bigger picture; bring a fresh perspective to the Trust’s fundraising plans and strategies, whilst maintaining strong relationships with existing donors and supporters. Identify, assess, and progress new grant sources and fundraising opportunities. In consultation with the Treasurer and Director, develop, implement, and coordinate a fundraising plan aligned with budget requirements. Assist The Board in developing a new approach to fundraising and income generation. Ensuring fundraising is of the highest standard and priority. Main Responsibilities • Develop the fundraising strategy in conjunction with the Director • Support and encourage the Director in their fundraising work • Provide The Board with fundraising/income generation advice and guidance, drawing on your skills and experience, to enable The Board to make sound decisions • Ensure that the charity fundraises legally, responsibly, and effectively, in line with fundraising standards and regulations, the values and culture of the charity, and the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) • Carry out fundraising risk assessments, especially when considering new or ambitious fundraising strategies • Encourage an entrepreneurial fundraising culture within the charity.

What are we looking for?

Person Specification

Knowledge of the voluntary sector. An understanding of the Code of Fundraising Practice. A sound understanding and experience of charity fundraising at strategic and operational levels. An understanding of the challenges facing small UK charities in maximising income streams and donor cultivation Experience of diverse fundraising practices – corporate partnerships, major donor giving, and trusts and foundations would be valuable. An understanding of the UK charity sector, good governance, the Charity Commission, relevant and statutory requirements Strategic vision A willingness to devote the necessary time and effort to the role. Excellent networking, influencing, and communication skills. Good, independent judgement An ability to think creatively. A willingness to speak your mind. An understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities, and liabilities of trusteeship An ability to work effectively as a member of a team.

General responsibilities of a Trustee In addition to the responsibilities outlined above, the Trustee has the following general responsibilities:

To contribute actively to the Board of Trustees' role in giving strategic direction to the charity, setting overall strategy and policy, setting targets, and evaluating performance against agreed targets Ensure the charity applies its resources exclusively in pursuing its objectives. Ensure the effective and efficient administration of the charity. Safeguard the good name and values of the charity. Abide by the charity’s policies and procedures (e.g., Safeguarding, Diversity, and Inclusion etc.) Declare any conflict of interest while carrying out the duties of a Trustee. Be collectively responsible for the actions of the charity and other Trustees Participate in other tasks as arise from time to time, such as interviewing new staff, and helping with fundraising. Attend meetings and subcommittee meetings as appropriate and read papers in preparation for meetings. Keep informed about the activities of the charity and wider issues which affect its work.
