Houst is a progressive property management business committed to providing superior financial management, earning them a stellar reputation in the industry. The company is looking to onboard a proficient Junior Accountant to their Cape Town team.
Role Summary:

  • Managing comprehensive accounting activities across the company's firms.
  • Overseeing the entire accounting process up to trial balance.
  • Supporting the monthly closure process.
  • Ensuring compliance with VAT and other tax returns.
  • Improving accounts payable processes.

Role Requirements:

  • Three years of finance or accounting experience.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a closely related field.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks and Pastel.
  • Excellent comprehension of accounting principles and standards like IFRS or GAAP.
  • Strong Excel skills.

Houst is seeking a dedicated Junior Accountant to join our finance team in Cape Town. This role is crucial for maintaining the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of our financial records, which supports the company's overall financial health and strategic decision-making.

The role: As a Junior Accountant, you will manage accounting transactions across the Group's entities, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and working closely with internal stakeholders to enhance financial processes. Your responsibilities will include managing the full accounting process up to trial balance, supporting the month-end close process, maintaining accounting reports, ensuring statutory compliance with VAT and other tax returns, and identifying process improvements in accounts payable.

Job requirements: The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in finance or accounting, a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field, and preferably a professional qualification. You should have experience with invoice processing, payment runs, bank reconciliations, and be proficient in accounting software like Xero, QuickBooks, or Pastel. Strong Excel skills are essential, and you should have a good understanding of accounting principles and standards such as IFRS or GAAP.
