The Wellcome Trust is a global charitable foundation dedicated to improving health by funding science, leading policy and advocacy campaigns, and building partnerships. We plan to spend £16bn over the next ten years, funding new discoveries in life, health, and wellbeing, and addressing three global health challenges: mental health, infectious disease, and climate and health. These challenges require the bold science we support, but they also need more than just scientific solutions.
As an Operational Risk and Controls Analyst, you will join our Risk team, which is crucial in supporting Wellcome's mission. The team provides expert guidance on risk management across the organization and leads the development and delivery of the corporate risk management framework and business continuity arrangements. In this role, you will work collaboratively with leaders across all functions, Risk Champions, and other stakeholders to embed a proactive risk culture within first-line management. Your efforts will help strengthen organizational resilience and enable Wellcome to achieve its goals confidently.
Your responsibilities will include partnering across departments to embed a proactive risk management culture and ensure effective controls are designed and implemented. You will support first-line teams in documenting, monitoring, and reporting controls in line with Wellcome's risk framework, while building their capability around risk and compliance. Additionally, you will deliver risk processes including contributions to Risk Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) and provide clear, data-driven reports for leadership and governance committees. Conducting second-line control testing to give assurance on the effectiveness of controls and collaborating with senior colleagues to advance enterprise risk management are also key aspects of this role.
This position is ideal for proactive problem-solvers who enjoy building strong relationships and collaborating across teams. You will need excellent communication skills, adaptability to shifting priorities, and the confidence to work independently while driving improvements in risk and control processes. Experience in enterprise risk management or controls testing, alongside relevant professional qualifications, will help you succeed in delivering Wellcome's mission.
