Afrikindness is a not-for-profit organization. We are looking for an Education Specialist (teacher) to join our Executive Board and support us with developing and delivering education projects in the UK and overseas.

What will you be doing?

We are looking to pioneer innovative and exciting ways for children and young people to learn about intentional kindness. We also provide bespoke teacher training and well-being resources developed by teachers for teachers in schools with the aim of supporting the social and emotional needs of young people. We are looking for a senior education professional to support and work with our CEO and Board of Trustees to oversee the development of our bespoke children's content and teacher training well-being resources. We would like to become a trusted voice in education and deliver programs that will make a real difference in the lives of children and young adults, educate teachers about several cultures & traditions and promote the well-being of children of colour in the UK. We plan to develop and launch the programs within the next 12 months to deliver quality, high-standard teaching content on intentional kindness and cultural awareness. You will coordinate a team of teachers, content writers, etc to launch the teaching resources, thereby bringing that needed awareness of the benefit of emotional intelligence, community engagement, and kindness in children. You will be responsible for learning, progress, and curriculum and will work with our Founder and the education team to create and launch our resources. You will work with marketing & training consultants to create visually compelling teaching content. You will work with our Research team & CEO so that we can create programs that are research-backed and data-informed and identify relevant organizations with that we can collaborate, partner, and share resources and expertise. We facilitate children-led projects across the UK and in Africa, provide cultural content and educational resources that promote kindness and advocate for kindness in schools. Duties:

Develop KS1, KS2, and KS3 content based curriculum that foster positive racial identity development in schools, and build racial and cultural knowledge that encourages kindness and racial harmony in children Supporting the UK and Global team with other administrative or research for various education initiatives  Develop training contents that are relevant to the mission and purpose of Afrikindness. Coordinate teachers on several projects across UK and Africa. Represent Afrikindness on a global scale on events related to education.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for someone passionate about children and young adults, and looking at making a difference in the educational sector. We are looking for people who will join the team and progress to an Executive position. Key skills

Experience in developing curriculum for KS1, KS2, KS3 groups, and educational content on Kindness, preferably someone within the education sector.  Experience or have a great understanding of the CASEL or SEL framework  Familiar with Ethnic minorities' experience in the UK and a strong ally and advocate for inclusive education Experience in developing training content suitable for teachers across the UK Experience with developing relationships with external stakeholders like DFE Experience in the educational sector - a teacher, educator or educational specialist

Essential: 

Communication, and engagement skills, to approach and recruit new teachers Eagerness to establish and maintain relationships with internal and external partners Experience in the education sector with knowledge of schools’ and young students’ social and emotional needs 

The ideal person will be:

Passionate about improving the lives of children and young people through education. Senior management experience in education. Experience in working with children and/or young people in an education environment Experience with different learning methodologies and teaching pedagogies  Experience with designing, writing, and assessing curriculum Experience with developing and implementing learning tools. Proactive and organized. Experienced with managing and building teams. Great communication skills and ability to build relationships.

What difference will you make?

As an educator with Afrikindness, you will help to create the image of Afrikindness seen and understood by the community we serve. Through your work, you will be contributing to the work we do, bringing awareness to the mental health issues children face, the lack of empathy, issues with bullying, hatred, racism, and the effect on children, especially children of color, and to promote what Afrikindness is doing to tackle those issues. Your educational content will be able to reach the children & young adults across the UK & Africa who need early support the most to improve their mental, social, and emotional needs and to foster positive racial development and intentional kindness in young people. Afrikindness is looking to increase its global reach through compelling content.  We are looking for an educator with a passion for children/ young adults and a proactive approach to work.  You will be working with the CEO, teachers in the UK, and the board of Trustees. About Afrikindness We are a pioneering non-profit association founded in 2021 out of the desire to promote intentional kindness in children and to foster positive racial identity development in young people. Our charity's sole purpose is to advocate for kindness. We are focused on inspiring, educating, and empowering children and young adults to be kind to themselves (mental health), kind to others (empathy), kind to the environment, and extend our kindness framework to Africa.  You will be joining our charity during an exciting point in our development and a period of real growth; your expert knowledge, skill, and experience will be critical to our success. You will have a key role in ensuring we can maintain the work that we do & make the needed impact on young people.
