What will you be doing?
The Treasurer is a Trustee of the Association, and has the responsibilities associated with that role. To oversee and ensure that the financial affairs of the Charity are conducted within legal requirements, accounting conventions and good practice. To lead the promotion of the financial viability, growth, and development of the Association. Specific responsibilities: To lead the Trustee Board in the development of annual budgets and longer-term financial plans/strategies, in conjunction with the Executive Director and wider executive team. To prepare reports for the Trustee Board on the financial position and performance of the Association, liaising with the executive team as needed. To prepare the annual accounts and a financial review for inclusion in the Trustees' Annual Report. To liaise with the Association's appointed Independent Examiner. To oversee the Association's finance systems and main bank accounts (with the assistance of the Finance Officer / Bookkeeper, if in post), ensuring that all income and expenditure is accounted-for and allocated to the appropriate budget lines. To operate and maintain the Association's financial management policies, and to recommend updates to the Trustee Board as appropriate. In conjunction with the Finance Officer/Bookkeeper, to ensure timely payments of all invoices, expense claims, salaries, etc. To facilitate the active sharing of information amongst the Trustees, especially that relevant to any financial matters.

The skills needed to fulfil the requirements of this post are not exhaustive, the following is a guide to the level of expertise that would help to ensure the role meets the expectations of the individual and association; Essential • A team player, but able to work on their own without direct support. • Ability to think and plan strategically. • The time available to fulfil the requirements of the post. • The ability to portray the image of the Association in a professional manner. • To be numerate. • An understanding of the legal requirements relating to charity finances and financial reporting. • Ability to compose and administer budgets. • Appreciate the need for accuracy with regard to accounts and to operate the approved accounting procedures. • Excellent written and verbal communications skills. • Contactable during normal office hours in an emergency. • Pro-activity in the accomplishment of tasks. • Highly motivated.
