What will you be doing?

Our mission is “to improve the well-being and quality of life for young people”. As part of this vision for quality youth health and service development, MyHealthnet has openings for new trustees.  We are attracting enthusiastic Trustees with relevant qualities, charity or medical sector experience to support governance and a sound strategic leadership team.  An interest or experience in youth work, business or civic service within a formal or informal setting and education in medical, nursing, health promotion, social care, and fundraising management. You are skilled and passionate about 2 or more of the following areas: e-health, PR, fundraising, marketing, HR, legal,  web development, e-commerce, campaigning, research, and outreach service...  You will serve to drive MyHealthnet's Transformation agenda and enrich the Board’s existing skill base.  Our Trustees will also be

Committed to taking responsibility for raising awareness of and transforming MyHealthnet Creating a sustainable service, that integrates sustainable human development, social capital and sustainable environmental Engaging youths from all aspects of life and local communities in the UK regardless of background Influencing and introducing lifestyle and behaviour change programs within communities in the UK

Driving clinical service, education, and partnerships with youths in need, local, regional and national service networks, and representing their views and needs at the Board level.  And…be

Assisting MyHealthnet in meeting users' needs and leading and or driving our success. Mature, driven, resourceful and non-judgemental candidates with innovative ideas, passion for our values, and excellent character to help govern our service aims.

Could you shape future strategy and help us to achieve our mission? MyHealthnet is a resilient and innovative service and as a board member, you will ultimately be jointly responsible for directing MyHealthnet's overall vision and business strategy.  Helping to build the service. Candidates appointed will reflect the diversity of needs of service users.  Of greatest importance is the leadership, financial stability, drive, and vision for serving more young people and families, and raising the service profile.

What are we looking for?

Person specification Ability to generate and influence policy, undertake outreach market research, and lead campaigns for, and on behalf of MyHealthnet Essential

Prior leadership experience, either at college or charity sector Effective management experience, project management, level, in an organisation Ability to network and build relationships at very senior levels, especially fundraising relationships High levels of personal energy and the ability to devote the necessary time and effort needed for this role Strategic thinking ability combined with the ability to process detail and get to the heart of an issue Ability to operate maturely, impartially and objectively, to avoid giving any perception of unfairness or discrimination  Excellent communication skills and ability to demonstrate tact and diplomacy A willingness to follow rules, safeguard, and commit to MyHealthnet, its Vision and Values, and awareness of (or ready to learn ) issues charities and youths Plus duties not listed in JD but are essential trustee roles at MyHealthnet.

Desirable

Experience and understanding of the responsibilities of charity trustees Knowledge of how the charity works Financial and business nous Balanced worldviews

Skills and Qualifications:

Organisation development skills and experience Excellent communication and people management skills Finance and Tendering Skills and qualification Experience in successful fundraising project delivery Research, policy or campaigning equivalent passion People and self-management Educational achievement from any background Experience or knowledge of inequality issues Knowledge of health service - desirable  Expertise in SEO, IT, Fundraising, Bid-writing, Media, PR and or presentations.

Knowledge / Qualifications Qualification in a discipline-related role - Essential Knowledge of the voluntary sector at a strategic level - Desirable First Degree and evidence of relevant Post Graduate study of training etc. - Desirable 

What difference will you make?

MyHealthnet is delivering specialist sexual health and development services for children or young people under 25 years old.  Hence, the importance of having under-young Trustees join our board.  The combination of people of different ages, and backgrounds, experiencing the world differently, could positively change our service culture, and help develop different solutions, and insights to existing perspectives to strengthen MyHealthnet service thus significantly improving the quality for young people. Youth Sexual Health, Health Promotion, Ethnic Equalities, Community Health Education and Service Development. Our young trustees will be joining experienced trustees and managers to offer a collective voice volunteers give MyHealthnet online, in communities, in government and community, the media, and they also empower other volunteers. They will be using their analytical minds, and local and specialist knowledge to support MyHealthnet to be effective in tackling both the specific and general issues that matter to our members and the wider challenges faced by young people.   With dedication and a long and high sense of commitment, young people who become trustees at MyHealthnet can gain the skills and experience that come from serving at charity and all the advantages that will improve their chances for future opportunities. Young people serving to support other young people could generate a sense of pride, and civic duty and motivate other young people to take advantage of the self-development opportunities available to them.   MyHealthnet is Disability Confident and Committed Reg.
