What will you be doing?
Almost 500 prisoners a year complete our six-week distance learning course, which helps them get better at avoiding violence, managing anger and handling conflict. You will be one of our network of volunteers who assess the participants' coursework, to evaluate how well they have met the course objectives.
What are we looking for?
We're seeking people with a background in social care, mental health and/or education, who have high levels of empathy and attention to detail, to help us review the reports, and work with us to improve their quality. Empathy. Understanding. Perception. A willingness to suspend judgement, and ability to put yourself in the other person's shoes. Attention to detail. Advanced writing skills. Emotional intelligence combined with objectivity.
What difference will you make?
From the feedback that we receive from participants, we know that our course can turn people's lives around. It's the start of a 'new me'. The assessments we write are fundamental to this process and you will be ensuring that they are produced to the highest possible standard, to achieve maximum impact. Currently, the number of reviewers we have limits the number of assessments we can send out, and thus the number of enrolments we can process. Your contribution will have a direct impact on the number of people who can take our course.
