Volunteer WordPress implementer

What will you be doing?

Careers Springboard has a developing website and we want to maximise the possibilities and opportunities which it represents. Our WordPress inmplementer will focus on Search Engine Optimization and create more from our website with increased activity and interaction with our volunteers and membership. We meet every Monday evening, currently on a virtual/Zoom basis, and we want our IT Volunteer to attend/participate in at least 25% of those meetings in order to interact with fellow volunteers and trustees. The IT Volunteer will work with our Trustee/Executive Committee members in charge of Administration. Careers Springboard is a registered charity, self-help group, established over 29 years ago in Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire, staffed by volunteers, providing help and guidance to redundant and unemployed professionals, managers and to graduates who seek employment. The IT Volunteer would attend some of our Monday evening meetings. There is a programme of weekly Monday evening meetings (at Gerrards Cross) (currently virtual/Zoom) on job search skills such as CV preparation, Internet job search, telephone techniques, networking, Linkedin, interview preparation etc. Joining Careers Springboard as a volunteer provides unique opportunities for those who wish to undertake activities which will benefit the South Bucks community and which will enhance a personal sense of achievement.

What are we looking for?

In order for him/her to be most effective we seek a volunteer who can work on our IT, data collection and website issues on a weekly basis. As well as a solid IT background we need someone who has experience of WordPress and preferably website development skills such as php and html. Check out our new website to see the progress we have made with it so far. We want our new IT Volunteer to "take it to the next level".

Those seeking our help expect us to operate with the slickest and most user friendly IT systems and devices - our WordPress Implementer will maximise our use of our website and our collection of data in order to achieve that. We are under increasing pressure from our sponsors and trustees to record, analyse, and report on our application process and our successes with job seekers - with direction from our new WordPress Implemementer our website can generate that information. Our website can also act more as a marketing tool for Careers Springboard, seeking out job seekers who will find our services invaluable in their search for employment.
