What will you be doing?

Our mission is “to improve the well-being and quality of life for young people”. As part of this vision for quality youth health and service development, the charity is now seeking new trustees.  MyHealthnet is seeking to appoint enthusiastic Trustees (voluntary) with relevant charity or medical sector experience to provide governance and sound strategic leadership.  Experience or interest in generic project work, youth work or charity management within a formal or informal educational setting and skills in medical, nursing, health promotion, social care, business and financial management.   You also have skills and experience in 1 or 2 of these desirable associated knowledge areas: e-health, social media, PR, fundraising, legal, marketing, e-commerce, IT, charity, campaigning, lobbying, commissioning, research, or policy.  To complement the Board’s existing skill base and drive MyHealthnet’s vision forward.  Our Trustees will also be

Committed to taking responsibility for raising awareness of and transforming MyHealthnet Creating a sustainable service, that integrates sustainable human development, social capital and sustainable environmental Engaging youths from all aspects of life and local communities in the UK regardless of background Influencing and introducing lifestyle and behaviour change programs within local communities in the UK

Developing clinical service, education, and partnerships with youths in need, local, regional and national service networks, and representing their views and needs at the Board level.  And…be

MyHealthnet is a resilient and innovative service and as a member of the board, you will ultimately be responsible for the overall direction, vision and strategy of MyHealthnet.  Help build service. We will appoint candidates who reflect the diversity of our Service Users.  Of greatest importance is the leadership, financial stability, drive, and vision for reaching more young people and families, and raising MyHealthnet’s profile in the public mind.

What are we looking for?

Person specification Ability to generate and influence policy, research, and lead high-profile campaigns for, and on behalf of MyHealthnet Essential

Prior experience being a Trustee, either in the public, private or voluntary sectors Significant effective leadership experience, at the Board level, in an organisation of some complexity Ability to network and build relationships at very senior levels, especially fundraising relationships High levels of personal energy and the ability to devote the necessary time and effort needed for this role Proven strategic thinking ability combined with the ability to process detail and get to the heart of an issue Ability to operate impartially and objectively, including the necessity to avoid any perception of political partiality.  Excellent communication skills and ability to demonstrate tact and diplomacy A willingness to demonstrate commitment to MyHealthnet, its Vision and Values, and an awareness of (or willingness to learn about) issues facing the charity and youths Plus, other roles not listed here but essential for carrying out MyHealthnet Charity Trustee duties in the JD.

Skills and Qualifications:

Organisation development skills and experience Excellent communication and people management skills Finance and Tendering Skills and qualification Experience in leading charities or business Research, policy or campaigning equivalent experience Project development and management skills Plus relevant educational achievement from any background Experience or knowledge of BME issues Excellent knowledge and skills using IT and the media for reports or presentations.

Knowledge / Qualifications

Qualification in a discipline related to the Trustee role - Essential Knowledge of the voluntary sector at a strategic level - Desirable First Degree and evidence of relevant Post Graduate study of training etc. - Desirable

MyHealthnet is a charity that provides youth sexual, reproductive, and psychosexual health (SRPH), health promotion and education services. We aim to improve the quality of life for all young people.  MyHealthnet offers practitioners, clinicians, therapists, business owners, social media experts, health educators and carers, and non-health professionals an excellent opportunity to volunteer the services they provide SRPH, screening, advocacy, therapy, counselling, business management, administration etc.).  MyHealthnet will approach and encourage individuals interested in the services and those dedicated to our goals to join us and contribute actively.  With your help, we can achieve more in delivering standard and specialised youth service to young people in need.   And ultimately ensure the long-term sustainability of our organisation beyond the challenges presented by Covid-19 and resources. Areas of Interest: Youth Sexual Health, Health Promotion, Ethnic Equalities, Community Health Education and Service Development. Our trustees and managers are experts in various fields of practice, such as clinical and non-clinical sexual and reproductive health and HIV service, health administration, child protection, professional service management, education, social service, and law.  Volunteers give MyHealthnet a voice online, in communities, in government and community, the media, and they also empower other volunteers. We have the expertise and specialist local and national knowledge of service.  MyHealthnet is effective in tackling both the specific and general issues that matter to our members and the wider challenges faced by young people.
