What will you be doing?
Our current board of 5 are looking to grow their membership by welcoming new board members including in the roles of Vice-Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and general trustee positions. Made up of people that have first-hand experience of our work and a genuine love for the work we do from our Community Centre base and in the community, our current team have identified some gaps in their knowledge, skills and experiences that they would like to fill with new members. We are looking to fill all key positions within the board structure and are particularly interested in hearing from those with experience in the following areas: -Accounting, business planning and cashflow -HR, personnel and supporting people -Building and grounds management and maintenance -Charity legislation and day-to-day requirements of running a registered charity - Experience of working with people in areas of disadvantage or personal lived experience of this - Fundraising, marketing and promotion - Website design and maintenance
What are we looking for?
For our secretary role we are looking for someone with a background in Administration, Personal Assistance, meeting planning, minute taking and any other related experience. Day to day administration is done by our staff team, The secretary will act on behalf of board members to collate information, produce documents , minute meetings and co-ordinate the boards paperwork.
What difference will you make?
Our small charity makes a huge difference! We received the Queens Award for Volunteering, the MBE for charities and volunteer groups in recognition of the outstanding work our Charity does. With a small team working in our key areas we have outcomes that show just how much can be achieved when people come together to achieve the lives of others in their community. Within our last annual report (full copies can be found on charity commission website) some of these outcomes include: -600 existing outcomes continued to receive support with a further 479 households signing up in the year -3663 participations in our Community Share to access clothing, food and household items on a pay what you can basis -5314 participations have happened within our physical exercise sessions, including seated and low impact sessions. -1316 participations in Free2Be over 50’s friendship session run in partnership with local organisation -1093 participations in our crafts coffee and chat sessions took place in the year. Participants were given opportunities to raise their concerns or ask for support within these sessions and support was provided including signposting and support for money issues (79 people) Anxiety (282 people) Domestic abuse (62 people) Grief (54 people) and rising costs of living (60 people) amongst many other issues affecting the health and wellbeing of our community. - 1920 calls were received and responded to with support or signposting. -184 counselling and coaching sessions were provided by our team. This is a very small snapshot of what we have achieved this year but gives you a taste of the work we do.
