What will you be doing?

Shapeshifter Productions is a performing arts charity looking for passionate, experienced and committed volunteers who would like to support our objectives, which is to actively engage communities in group, musical activities that enhance confidence and self-esteem while reducing isolation.  Our participatory singing project The Smiling Sessions, is delivered into care homes and sheltered housing in deprived areas. The repertoire has also been made into some 50 video songs available on a web/app.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for volunteers with one or two or all three skillsets: a) with social media experience to raise our profile and  promote public awareness of our work b) to help with data inputing all the monitoring and feedback we collect at the end of a singing project d) with website design/maintenance knowledge  If this sounds like you, then we would love to hear from you! You will of course require a computer or laptop to work remotely with us from your home.

What difference will you make?

Shapeshifter Productions has grown exponentially since 2007 alongside the contribution of a team of project based volunteers in their support of web development, social media and events promotion. The assistance they provided to the Artistic Director led to the organisation’s ability to achieve projects funding and the charity’s development. The Smiling Sessions has grown from a one-off project to 13 years of building partnerships across London and now the South East with social housing providers and older people's day clubs (including Waltham Forest Housing, Notting Hill Genesis Housing, Sanctuary Care, Peabody, Brighton & Hove Seniors Housing, Housing 21), providing opportunities for elderly, isolated people to participate in singing, socialise and become more active. The demand is forever growing and Shapeshifter Productions requires volunteers’ support to maintain this level of activity and to extend it at a time when our work has received recognition and support from partners, funders and the local community. We are also developing a new environmental project: Gaia & The Globe.
