What will you be doing?
RSASS will give you the tools and support to create a service you are proud to be part of and we will help you thrive in your chosen volunteer role: What to expect as an RSASS Counsellor:
To provide counselling to survivors of rape and sexual abuse in line with the related policies and procedures. Have an in-depth understanding of how to support clients who have experienced sexual trauma and therapeutically support them through their experience. Engage in regular supervision that will be provided by the organisation in line with BACP guidelines. Work flexibly by providing counselling sessions face-to-face or online using Microsoft Teams.
Admin Responsibilities:
Manage and coordinate your counselling sessions in the best interest of the client. Maintain and record counselling notes effectively by using our client monitoring system. Hold a full understanding of professional practice and work effectively within BACP ethical guidelines.
General Responsibilities:
Therapeutically support clients with a variety of complex challenges such as mental health, anxiety, depression and trauma-related issues. Work flexibly as a member of the team and have an innovative, adaptable approach to new ideas. Undertake relevant training as required. The ability to make professional decisions as an RSASS counsellor and follow policies and protocols effectively.
What are we looking for?
Please be aware that you must hold a minimum of Level 4 in counselling/psychotherapy or equivalent. You must be registered with a professional body such as BACP, UKCP. As a counsellor, supporting survivors of sexual trauma you will be exploring complex topics and therefore, we require our counsellors to have a minimum of 100 client contact hours. Ability to adapt your therapeutic approach according to the client's needs and have experience counselling clients who have trauma-based experiences.
Please be aware that we will be unable to proceed with your application as a counsellor if you do not meet the above requirements.
What difference will you make?
In England and Wales, a person experiences rape or sexual assault every 5 minutes. We provide a free, confidential service to victims of rape and sexual violence across Buckinghamshire. Our services range from support work to one-to-one counselling to help men and women heal from their experiences. You can be a part of this healing process by providing emotional support and being an active listener to our service users. In return, you will receive continuous training in supporting victims of rape and sexual violence. You will also have the opportunity to be a part of a dedicated team to support you at RSASS.
