Are you a brilliant story teller? We’re looking for 2 communications & marketing volunteers to help engage our supporters by creating compelling content so we can support more people affected by a pain condition.

What will you be doing?

Our charity delivers a range of awareness campaigns and support services to patients, their families and carers who have been affected by a poorly understood chronic condition; Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS).  Are you someone who is creative and who enjoys writing and story telling? Then read on! We’re looking for at least 2 Comms volunteers who will enjoy planning, updating and delivering the content for our website, other digital and print materials. We are looking for 2 skilled professionals or trainee journalists needing placement who can write compelling and persuasive content. You will help ensure a consistent tone across all our digital and printed communications to promote awareness and engagement.   We would like the volunteers to help with:

Copywriting: Create well-written and compelling copy for use on our website, in leaflets, one-page/fact sheet, or fundraising/promotional materials.

Case study writing and storytelling: Help communicate our impact stories and case studies that we can use on our website, in marketing materials, or in our annual report.

Web copywriting: Create engaging content for our website that adheres to our brand

Email/E-Newsletter content: Writing compelling & engaging email content for our various newsletters that is relevant and has clear a call-to-action and high click through rates. We’re also wanting to create a new members newsletter biannually

Communication materials review: Review our existing communications materials. Recommend edits that will provide us with consistency in writing style and tone, accurate spelling and grammar, and a clear and engaging voice for our organisation

Press Releases and any content that could be used in different channel

Brochure/annual review writing: Assist with creating or updating copy for a brochure or our annual review, highlighting our impact current and potential stakeholders

As a small charity & team, you’ll be working with the charity’s Chair as well as other volunteers who will provide an overview of our existing communication & marketing materials, content strategy our brand & how we have approached our content to date.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a volunteer who has:

Strong writing and editing skills

Understanding of use of, and ability to write for, different mediums and formats (print copy vs web copy)

Experience in copywriting, marketing, public relations, communications or journalism

Ability to write with the charity's brand at front of mind using our existing voice and style

Accuracy and attention to detail

Ability to quickly understand the needs of our team / organisation / users

Understands the resource constraints of a small charity and is able to work with these

  Skills

Marketing and communications: Copywriting/Journalism

Related background in blog, content writing or journalism

Engaging storyteller

Good problem solver with a hands-on mentality

Interested to learn and help in any way possible

Keen to be part of something great that positively impacts society especially in times of crisis

Proactive to collaborate remotely

What difference will you make?

You most likely will not have heard of Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), and you wouldn’t be alone in this! But we see and know first hand the impact it has on those living with it and on those caring for someone with the condition. We know the huge challenges they face even with simply getting a correct diagnosis, let alone the appropriate treatment and relevant support.  You will join the charity during a challenging period and your expert knowledge will be invaluable to our success. You will have a key role in ensuring we can maintain our support services and become a sustainable charity to allow us to fulfil our aims.
