Volunteer Trustee

What will you be doing?

Silverfit is a growing charity providing opportunities to the over 50s to exercise, socialise and age healthily.  Our activities are based on research that shows the physical, psychological and economic benefits of exercise among older people. We have a broad range of funders including local authorities, National Lottery and grant giving trusts. Our new trustees will be part of a team of trustees and staff committed to providing and growing the opportunities for exercise to our service users

What are we looking for?

Candidates should:

understand and accept the responsibilities and liabilities as trustees be non-judgmental and respect views, values and cultures that are different to your own have good listening, verbal and written communication skills be able to exercise good independent judgment have good numeracy skills to understand accounts with the support of the Treasurer be willing to learn about and follow the charitable objectives of Silverfit, principles and policies, including confidentiality and data protection be willing to undertake training in your role

In terms of the skills and experience that the candidate will bring to the Board, We are particularly looking for those with strong backgrounds in Business Development, Fundraising and HR. 

What difference will you make?

We began in 2013 as part of the legacy of the London Olympics to promoting happier, healthier ageing through affordable physical activity and at the same time combating social isolation by creating new friendships and communities. We aim to improve older people's quality of life, thus saving costs of the NHS and social care. With an average age of 70yrs. we have grown to over 1,500 Silverfitters at 15 venues across 11 London boroughs. Our Trustees are responsible for every aspect  of creating a sustainable service that reaches the widest possible user base.
