What will you be doing?

We are seeking new Trustees to guide our small, but highly successful organisation through the next stage of its development. The current trustees are reaching the end of their tenure, and would like to ensure a smooth transition for the new team to take over governance and planning for the next stage in the charity's development. You will be building on a very secure and successful foundation and putting structures and plans in place to ensure that this success continues and builds over the next 5-10 years.  We are particularly seeking individuals with skills in experience in the following fields:

legal facilities management volunteer management small business development community engagement

We are entirely community built, led and managed, and are an integral part of the community in Cricklewood, and ideally you will be local to the area, or have some kind of connection with north west London.

What are we looking for?

You will need the following skills to contribute fully as a trustee:

a passion for the work of Cricklewood Library; a willingness, and ability, to devote the necessary time and effort;  the ability to think strategically;  an understanding of the difference between governance and operational control and the role of a non-executive;  the ability to exercise good, independent judgement; an ability to think creatively; a willingness to speak your mind;  an understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship; the ability to work effectively as a member of a team;  a commitment to Nolan’s seven principles of public life: selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership.

What difference will you make?

It is not an exaggeration to say that the existence of the new iteration of Cricklewood Library has been life-changing for many of those who use it as patron or customer, and for those who volunteer. It has provided a focus for the creation of many new friendships and social groups, led to improvements in health and wellbeing, and provided a much needed space for artistic endeavour of all kinds, from reading groups, to writers groups, a choir, regular musical evenings and much, much more. In addition, the library contributes to the economy of the local area by providing paid work for several individuals.
