Role Summary:

  • Leverage advanced technologies to manage a multi-petabyte data warehouse (Snowflake).
  • Streamline and secure data sharing using Kafka and Snowflake.
  • Lead the Datalake Team in the development and optimization of data storage and ingestion solutions.

Role Requirements:

  • Minimum 6+ years of relevant experience with a proven success track record.
  • At least 1+ year of experience managing high-performing teams.
  • Strong leadership skills with a passion for product development and customer experience.
  • Effective communication and organizational skills with experience in agile methodologies.
  • Proficiency in Python and familiarity with technologies like Kafka, Airflow, etc.
  • Experience with distributed systems, Snowflake, and other related platforms is a bonus.

Braze leverages cutting-edge technologies to manage and optimize data storage in a multi-petabyte data warehouse (Snowflake). Our Datalake team plays a crucial role in streaming, accessing, and securely sharing vast amounts of data with both internal and external stakeholders through Kafka and Snowflake. Additionally, the team owns Cloud Data Ingestion (CDI), connecting Data Warehouses to Braze to sync massive amounts of data from multiple sources.

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Engineering Manager to lead our Datalake Team. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a strong technical background, capable of overseeing the development and optimization of our data warehouse and related products. 

As the Engineering Manager, You will build and maintain best-in-class systems by helping architect, develop, and optimize our product. You’ll own your team’s success by shaping their process, supporting engineers’ growth, and working closely with the team’s product manager and designer to keep team efforts on target for product goals.


  • 6+ years of relevant experience with a strong track record of success, with 1+ years managing high performing teams
  • Experienced technical leader with strong and good opinions on product development practices
  • Passionate about customer experience and product delivery
  • Calm, patient, considerate, compassionate, supportive, and inspiring leader
  • A self starter with great communication and strong organizational skills, able to manage competing priorities and multiple streams of work at once
  • Experience with agile processes and tools


  • Professional experience building software at scale
  • Experience with distributed systems, Snowflake, Python, Airflow, Kafka, MongoDB, Redis, Datadog, Kubernetes, React, Ruby, Ruby on Rails.
  • Proficiency in Python and experience with related technologies (Kafka, Airflow, etc.).

For candidates based in the United States, the pay range for this position at the start of employment is expected to be between $191,000 and $230,000/year with an expected On Target Earnings (OTE) between $225,000 and $250,000/year (including bonus or commission). Your exact offer may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to cash compensation, Braze offers full- and part- time employees a comprehensive Total Rewards package that includes equity grants of restricted stock (RSUs) so that all Braze employees own a piece of our company.
