Engineering Lead

Location: Scale Space, 58 Wood Ln, London W12 7RZ - This is a hybrid role

Hours: 40 hours per week



Role Brief

Our suite of adsorbent materials is adaptable for various applications. We are looking for an Engineering Lead to direct the application development of our innovative novel adsorbent materials.

You will be responsible for supporting the design and execution of both in-house and external testing for these materials.

In this autonomous role, you will lead a team and oversee multiple projects. The ability to empower others and manage shifting priorities is crucial.

As we establish relationships with customers from diverse industries, you will understand their technical needs and work closely with them and the engineering team to guarantee the successful implementation of treatment systems.

The position is located in London, but it entails both local and international travel.

Responsibilities


  • Specify and define the end-use of different adsorbent media for various applications through collaborative work with the Product Development team (PD).
  • Characterise the performance of the media in various water scenarios at bench scale and pilot-scale trials. (Understand the requirements and benchmark of different water environments – drinking water, industrial, wastewater).
  • Client facing to ensure smooth transition between commercial introduction to piloting on site and manage the relationship.
  • Design benchmarking experiments (batch and rapid small-scale column tests) to assess new materials or new water matrices.
  • Develop and oversee the operation of pilot trials at various customer locations.
  • Ensure all operating procedures are standardised and documented clearly to ensure repetition and proficient data management.
  • Sign-off technical reports, presentations and recommendations based on results and data analysis.
  • Work with PD and Eng team to provide recommendations for full-scale implementation of the treatment process.
  • Active promotion and continuous improvement of the company’s Health & Safety and Environmental policies/procedures for Engineering projects.

Candidate Profile


  • MEng in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or MSc/PhD in Environmental Science (Water experience) 
  • Experience in relevant environment (Start-up, R&D, pilot scale testing, Client facing).
  • In-depth knowledge of conventional water filtration technologies (selection and design).
  • Strong organisation and prioritisation skills; able to multi-task efficiently.
  • Solid interpersonal skills; capable of building strong relationships with diverse colleagues and clients.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office suite

Desirable Skills


  • Experience in designing, commissioning and operating pilot plants
  • Experience using chemical process simulation software (e.g., HYSYS)
  • Experience managing relationships with 3rd parties (collaborations, outsourcing companies, etc)
  • Experience in a similar start-up environment of R&D
  • People Leadership experience
