- Design and develop large battery energy storage systems (BESS).
- Engage in all stages from strategy to procurement and development of BESS.
- Collaborate with a team focused on electrical engineering and grid connection.
- Participate in the grid connection process and support pre-construction phases.
- Conduct electrical/power system studies and handle due diligence for acquisitions.
- Review and optimize electrical designs and grid connections.
- Facilitate EPC and O&M procurement from an electrical standpoint.
- Optimize in-house processes to maintain scaling speed and ensure smooth project transitions.
- Experience with LV, MV, and HV systems, ideally in power generation.
- Deep knowledge of technical standards in power plant design.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and electrical design software.
- Understanding of the grid connection process in Italy.
- At least 3 years in a technical role within electricity projects.
- Ability to communicate complex concepts to non-technical audiences.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office/Google Suite, particularly Excel/Sheets.

Description
Key Responsibilities
- Drawing SLDs of the BESS from preliminary up to detailed stage;
- Sizing and selecting cable systems, transformers, switchgears, protective relays, earthing etc. following the applicable technical standards;
- Preparing power system studies (load flow, fault level studies, capability at point of connection study etc)
- Contributing in defining the layout requirements of the BESS;
- Overseeing electrical/power system studies to assess, for example, fault ride through, voltage step change and/or earthing design to de-risk developments as required in advance of construction.
- Supporting in preparation, submission and review of transmission and distribution connection applications
- Reviewing electrical design and accepted transmission and distribution grid connection offers
- Critically assessing SLDs prepared by developers and corresponding general arrangement drawings to ensure their suitability

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

- Deep knowledge of the technical standards involved in power plants design (standards from CEI, IEC, Terna’s Grid Code etc.)
- Experience with grid connections/ power systems of TSO, DNO
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and electrical design related softwares (e.g. DIGSILENT Powerfactory, ETAP, PSS, CYMCAP, Ampère)
- Understanding of the grid connection process in Italy
- 3+ years in a technical role working electricity projects, ideally including electrical design, EPC and due diligence support and submission or review of grid connection applications
- Electrical engineering background required.
- You should be able to explain reactive power and short circuit level to a non-technical audience.
- It’s preferable that you understand electrical design from a practical perspective; experience working on primary system engineering would be useful.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office/Google suite, especially Excel/Sheets
