What will you be doing?

The University of East London's Professional Mentoring Programme provides an opportunity for professionals to share their expertise to support, guide and inspire current students and recent graduates. The programme is designed to support students to graduate with career clarity and transition into the world of work with ease. As a Mentor, you will support your mentee with their goals, which may include:

Developing their interpersonal and employability skills  Growing their understanding of the link between their academic studies and career aspirations   Exploring career pathways and helping them plan their career goals   Improving confidence and self-esteem  Developing professional networks

 As a mentor you will:

Support and inspire future talent in your industry Develop your own skills Get involved with the University of East London Evidence your continued professional development (mentors are awarded an annual certificate of participation)

How it works:   We’ll match you with a student whose specialism is a good fit for your skills and expertise. You and your mentee will then meet for a minimum of 3 hours over the course of 8 weeks. You may agree to work with your mentee for more than three hours, but this isn’t our expectation. Over the programme, you will motivate and empower your mentee to achieve their personal goals. Support in your mentoring role will be provided, including an initial training session, and a two-week check in. See the attached document for more information on how the programme is structured.
