Role Summary

Role Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of strategic leadership experience in People management.
  • A proven record of mentoring and leading teams internationally.
  • Strategic, positive mindset with a passion for innovation and fast-paced environments.
  • Experience with financial forecasting and budget management.
  • Expertise in stakeholder management and structured, prioritized execution.
  • Previous success in scaling an organization and developing unique HR approaches.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
  • Results-driven with a focus on data and achieving objectives.
  • Adaptability to rapidly changing priorities in a dynamic setting.

MISSION TO METRICS 
The mission of The Ocean Cleanup is to develop technology to rid the world’s oceans and rivers of plastic. You will support our mission by leading our People and Organization team and The Ocean Cleanup’s People strategy .  
THE ASSIGNMENT 
The Head of People & Organization is expected to lead a visionary People strategy while nurturing The Ocean Cleanup’s culture. He/She also provides strategic guidance, consultation, and support to the Management Team on all People related topics in carrying out the mission of The Ocean Cleanup.  
Responsibilities will include :

  • Develop and execute a visionary People strategy aligned with the growth objectives of The Ocean Cleanup; 
  • Evolve and nurture The Ocean Cleanup’s culture, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment that adapts and scales with the organization; 
  • Drive the development and management of fitting compensation and benefits programs that attract, retain, and motivate top talent; 
  • Innovate and optimize workforce design and organizational structure; 
  • Enable career growth and development opportunities by implementing mentorship programs, training initiatives, and performance management frameworks that empower employees to chart meaningful career paths; 
  • Invest in leadership development programs to build a strong leadership pipeline; 
  • Elevate our employee engagement score well-being and foster an inclusive, diverse culture; 
  • Oversee hiring and recruitment strategies and efforts to attract top-tier talent quickly and efficiently, ensuring the workforce can scale to meet business needs. 
  • Keep a watchful eye on our people budget and navigate its evolution; 
  • Enable, inspire, and motivate your team that consists of talent acquisition lead, people business partners and people operations specialists. 

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • You bring 10+ years of strategically leading People management experience
  • You have a track record of mentoring and inspiring management teams and People & Organization teams internationally.
  • You bring a strategic, positive, and refreshing People & Organizationmindset, with an inexhaustible appetite for adventure and speed.
  • You can confidently plan and manage financial forecasts and budgets.
  • You know how to manage stakeholders and know how to get things done by bringing structure & prioritization with tact and organizational savviness.
  • You led an organization through a similar scaling phase before and thrived on these dynamics with your unparalleled execution power and drive to create a unique People & Organization approach.

  • Work permit: A valid European Union work permit is highly preferred for this position (The role is based in Rotterdam, The Netherlands);
