The Wellcome Trust is a global charitable foundation dedicated to improving health by funding science, leading policy and advocacy campaigns, and building partnerships. We plan to spend £16bn over the next ten years, funding new discoveries in life, health, and wellbeing, and addressing global health challenges such as mental health, infectious disease, and climate and health.
The role: As the Head of Clinical Research in Mental Health, you will be a crucial member of our leadership team, helping to shape and oversee our mental health strategy. This position involves providing senior technical expertise across our portfolio, particularly in interventions ranging from public health to secondary care, the collection and use of clinical and epidemiological data, and the funding and oversight of clinical trials. You will play a key role in decision-making within the mental health leadership team and act as a primary liaison with the UK's senior clinical research community. A focus will be on developing and refining our approach to precision and personalized mental health, including the use of biomarkers.
Job requirements: We are seeking a clinically trained leader with significant experience in delivering both pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions for conditions like anxiety, depression, and psychosis. You should have outstanding clinical research experience with a demonstrated impact in the field, particularly in early intervention. Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to manage complex collaborations are essential.
Benefits: The role offers a hybrid way of working, with three days in our Euston Road offices and two days of remote work, allowing flexibility around personal commitments. We are committed to diversity and inclusion, ensuring a fair and inclusive environment where everyone can thrive. Adjustments for people with disabilities or long-term conditions are available upon request.
To apply, please submit an up-to-date CV and respond to two application questions demonstrating your suitability for the role.
