Role Summary:

As the Programmatic Excellence Lead within the Organisational Planning team of the Strategy department, you will report to the Head of Organisational Planning. Your role will involve leading the Programmatic Excellence function, which is crucial for aligning priorities, resources, and delivery at Wellcome. You will be responsible for setting programme management standards, developing clear guidance, and maintaining tools that support effective delivery. Additionally, you will build capability and foster a community of practice to enhance delivery across Wellcome's strategic programmes.
Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining programme management standards, building training and coaching capabilities, maintaining portfolio oversight, embedding continuous learning, and collaborating across departments to align approaches and contribute to an inclusive, high-performing culture. You will also champion governance and adaptability within Wellcome's policies, values, and budget.
This role is ideal for someone with deep experience in programme and project management, capable of tailoring best practice to different contexts and embedding practical frameworks that drive impact. Strong collaboration, communication, and relationship-building skills are essential, along with a proactive, adaptable approach and a passion for Wellcome's mission.
