What will you be doing?

Act4Africa’s Media and PR Officer  Act4Africa Uganda is an award-winning NGO, working with long-standing partners and registered charity Act4Africa UK. We aim to reduce poverty and transform communities through our health, education, agriculture and livelihood programmes. Reducing gender inequality is central to our work. In our experience, it provides the most fundamental obstacle to eradicating poverty. About the role This role will help build understanding of the issues affecting Act4Africa’s young mother’s based in Mayuge District of Uganda. You will be working with Act4Africa’s UK and Ugandan based teams and assisting our Fundraising Manager to help Act4Africa as an organisation get more media coverage within a UK. As part of this role,we woul love to have you help us to drive media coverage and public speaking opportunities in UK, responding to media enquiries, engaging with journalists, social media influencers and helping us draft newsletter articles. Role responsibilities

Develop PR campaigns and media relations strategies Prepare and distribute press releases Address inquiries from the media and other groups Track media coverage and follow industry trends Representing Act4Africa at public engagements by delivering presentations.

Key requirements

Willingness to be pro-active in securing impactful media and PR coverage or influencer engagement for Act4Africa Excellent written and verbal communication skills Interest in planning and delivering PR plans and campaigns, including working with colleagues to develop and agree approaches and content Interest in public speaking and delivering presentations.

Time commitment for the volunteer: Ultimately, we would be extremley grateful for any time you can give us, but be great if you could commit to at least 2-4 hours per week Location: From home/Fully remote, but should you wish you are very welcome to visit us in Chichester too

What are we looking for?

Fully remote/working from home with open invitation to occacional regional team meetings in Surrey,Hampshire or Manchester.

What difference will you make?

You will help Act4Africa gain more exposure for this small but highly impactful charity, we are lucky as we have a very loyal donor base, however one of our greatest challenges recently is to attract new supporters, we hope that by joining Act4Africa as our Media and PR Volunteer, you will assist us with enhancing our teams skills, help us with our existing supporters journey as well as help us reach new audiences.
