Role Summary:

  • Deliver ISSOS’s custom Leadership programme to international students aged 13–18.
  • Teach interactive workshops and coordinate dynamic activities for 3 hours each weekday morning over a 3-week period.
  • Participate in evening activities as part of a mandatory rotation.
  • Ensure a safe, engaging, and enjoyable experience for all students.

Role Requirements:

  • Must have previous teaching experience.
  • Preferably experienced with international students.
  • A robust background in leadership and youth mentoring.
  • Fluency in English and excellent communication skills are required.
  • Enthusiasm, self-motivation, and a passion for teaching.
  • Commitment to contribute to the broader summer school activities and community.

Application Process Details:

  • Applicants must be eligible to work in the UK or the US without visa sponsorship.

  • The program runs from 26th June to 15th August 2024, in St Andrews.

The organisation - ISSOS We are an international summer school that provides a balanced summer program of academia, fun and culture for 13–18 year olds from over 80 nationalities, at the University of St Andrews, Cambridge and Yale universities.

The role - Youth Leadership Teacher As the Youth Leadership Teacher, you will guide your students through ISSOS’s bespoke Leadership programme and will offer hands-on learning through interactive workshops, energetic activities and fun-filled challenges. You will be teaching a class of international students, 3 hours per day, every weekday morning for the duration of the 3-week programme. You will also be required to take part in evening activities on a compulsory rota basis and ensure that students are safe and happy at all times.

Job requirements Previous teaching experience is essential. Experience in teaching international students is preferred. A strong background in leadership and mentoring young people is required. You must be fluent in English. You should be a clear and effective communicator, enthusiastic and self-motivated, passionate about instilling a love for your subject in your students, and a team player who is willing to be involved in the wider summer school programme.

Benefits We offer a reimbursement of £2000 per session (£4000 GBP for the full contract). Up to £150 reimbursed for travel to/from St Andrews. We provide accommodation in St Andrews for all staff. Meals are provided in the halls of residence once students arrive, however, staff are responsible for their meals during Orientation.

Please note that we cannot sponsor visas for working in the UK. All of our staff must pass a full criminal background check. All staff are required to be on duty (on a rota basis) for evening programmes, activities, day trips, and arrival/departure days.

This role is available in St Andrews. The role will commence on Wednesday 26th June and end on Thursday 15th August 2024.
