Join our vibrant summer school, where international students come to expand their horizons and develop their public speaking skills. As a Debate Coach, you'll be a key part of an exciting educational experience, teaching the art of debate in an engaging and supportive environment.

Role Summary:

  • Conduct interactive debate workshops for international students, enhancing their speaking, analysis, and argumentation skills.
  • Design and implement captivating lesson plans for daily 3-hour morning sessions over a 3-week period.
  • Participate in evening activities on a rotational basis, contributing to a lively community atmosphere.
  • Ensure student safety and well-being throughout the program.
  • Serve as an inspirational figure, encouraging a passion for debate and public speaking.
  • Contribute to our summer magazine with insightful articles.

Role Requirements:

  • Citizenship or legal right to work in the UK or US without visa sponsorship.
  • Strong communication skills and an effective delivery style.
  • Enthusiasm and self-motivation with a love for teaching.
  • Commitment to being a team player and engaging in the broader summer school activities.

Reimbursement and Perks:

  • Orientation provided before the session begins, with staff reimbursement following the program's conclusion.
  • Travel expenses and finder's fees are compensated separately.
  • Accommodation provided, and meals covered once students arrive.

The Debate Coaches will work as a pair to lead engaging workshops on the art of public speaking, covering all aspects of debate including delivery, organisation, evidence analysis, argument intervention and debating theory.

WHO CAN APPLY? To apply for our roles you must either be a UK or a US citizen, or have the legal right to work in the country you are applying for a role in. Please note that we cannot sponsor visas for working in the UK.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: Teaching a class of international students, 3 hours per day, every weekday morning for the duration of the 3 week programme Creating and executing interesting and engaging lesson plans Taking part in evening activities (compulsory rota basis) Making sure students are safe and happy at all times Being a positive role model Contributing a short article for our summer magazine, The ISSOS Times

WHAT DOES THIS JOB INVOLVE? The Debate Coaches will work as a pair to lead engaging workshops on the art of public speaking, covering all aspects of debate including delivery, organisation, evidence analysis, argument intervention and debating theory.

REIMBURSEMENT: Before the start of the session, we run a three-day orientation (dates are inclusive of this). Staff members receive reimbursement after the session. Travel reimbursements and any finders’ fees are paid separately.

We provide accommodation in all locations for all staff. Meals are provided in the halls of residence once students arrive, however, staff are responsible for their meals during Orientation.
