ISSOS is an esteemed international summer school that offers a comprehensive summer program combining education, excitement, and cultural exchange for teenagers from around the globe. By becoming a part of our team, you will work in a vibrant, multinational environment at the revered University of St Andrews, Cambridge, or Yale University.

Role Summary:

  • Provide pastoral care for a diverse group of 160 students.
  • Coordinate and execute sports, local excursions, and various evening events.
  • Act as a mentor and friend, ensuring students have an unforgettable and fun summer experience.

Role Requirements:

  • Must be a UK or US citizen, or have the legal right to work in the respective country.
  • Cannot sponsor work visas for the UK.
  • At least 2 years of experience working with youth.
  • Fluency in English and interest in sports and the arts are preferred.

ISSOS is looking for a Male Counselor to join our team. We are an international summer school that provides a balanced summer program of academia, fun and culture for 13–18 year olds from over 80 nationalities, at the University of St Andrews, Cambridge and Yale universities.

The role: Counselors at ISSOS work as a team to look after the welfare of all 160 students on campus. They also help to organise and run the sporting activities, local trips and our varied evening programme. Counselors are responsible for injecting the fun into ISSOS, as well as being a mentor and friend to the students.

Job requirements: To apply for our roles you must either be a UK or a US citizen, or have the legal right to work in the country you are applying for a role in. Please note that we cannot sponsor visas for working in the UK. Previous experience working with young people (minimum 2 years) is essential. Interests in sport, music, theatre, dance and other hobbies would be advantageous. You must be fluent in English.

Benefits: Before the start of the session, we run a three-day orientation (dates are inclusive of this). Staff members receive reimbursement after the session. Travel reimbursements and any finders’ fees are paid separately. We provide accommodation in all locations for all staff. Meals are provided in the halls of residence once students arrive, however, staff are responsible for their meals during Orientation.

Application details: All of our staff must pass a full criminal background check. Successful applicants will be expected to hold a current PVG/DBS or equivalent enhanced background check/be willing to obtain one. The cost of this will be covered by the company. Employment will be subject to the company receiving two references from previous employees covering your suitability for the specific position and working with those under 18 years old.
