What will you be doing?
The Square 1 Café is a safe and inclusive space where anyone, including those facing loneliness, isolation, or hardship, can find solace and friendly companionship. It’s a welcoming environment where people can meet new people, engage in meaningful conversations, catch up with existing friends and savor a delicious lunch - all without any financial burden. This Square 1 Cafe will open to support Wheels For All who hire the track at Kingsmeadow stadium exclusively on Mondays to allow disabled people and people with learning disabilities who may otherwise be unable to cycle on our roads, enjoy the experience with fully adapted cycles and trikes. Role Description The role is to manage and ensure the smooth running of Square 1 Café at Weir Archer Centre, creating a welcoming environment for all. The cafe will open between 10 am and 4 pm every Monday. You will need to be there between about 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Tasks & Activities Manage the operations of the café and its volunteers by:
Serving customers & answering queries Maintaining café registers and reports Support social media activities Maintain the health & safety and food hygiene of our facilities and equipment Liaising with Food Prep Lead* to ensure correct stock and sandwich fillings prepared and delivered each week
Lead a team of volunteers including:
Managing rotas to ensure appropriate levels of cover Recruiting new volunteers as needed Inducting new volunteers prior to starting their duties Ensuring high levels of customer service and food hygiene is delivered by all café staff
* Note - At other Square 1 cafés the manager fulfils both roles of Manager and Food Manager. Both roles are open and we welcome applicants who wish to take on one OR both roles.
What are we looking for?
We expect the person taking this role will have prior experience in providing social settings for neuro-divergent people and those with disabilities; and can demonstrate leadership potential. They should also have experience of managing volunteers.
